Joy & Healing

Tuesday, January 20th, 2015

Another new year is well under way now and as with all my other personal posts, the inspiration to share usually comes out of the blue and then I follow the nudge when I can.  This is my journal entry and I guess an update for family and friends. As the new year began I looked back on 2014 and realised what a very introspective year it was for me.  I needed the solace and the space to heal and prepare for new life.  Sarah joined our family in October 2014 and with her was born joy and healing for our family. Each day brings a newness with it as I hear her gurgling in her cot every morning to wake me up and then Dylan stumbling down the hall to see if “Baby Sarah” is awake.  We lie there slowly greeting the day with smiles and joking and I feel blessed.  Simon’s smiling face looks down on me all around the house from the beautiful photos of him and I know he is with us as we walk this road starting a new chapter. Dylan amazes me with is honesty and open-hearted approach to life. He misses Simon every day in a different way, always remembering him as he says his prayers at the end of the day with Dom and I. Then there is Dom, my crazy one of a kind husband, I love seeing him smile and cry as he tells Sarah about her older brother in the photos as he walks her around the house in her favourite forward facing position. The chats with Dylan about movie scripts, limos, Star Wars and times they had with Simon and how much he loves him, make me smile. When I look around me, I realise my landscape has changed and so have I. I see my world through different eyes now. I am grateful for the love, joy and healing.

Kylie & Jimbo

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Congratulations Kylie & Jimbo. What a happy celebration your special day was.  I just loved how you involved your friends and  family to add their magic to the mix that made your day so unique.  Kylie you looked absolutely radiant and Jimbo, so handsome – you were both glowing with love and joy.  Weddings are all so different and being able to tell the story in pictures is what I so enjoy about being “the fly on the wall” at weddings.   It was hard to narrow down my choice of favourite photos but here is my story and I hope you enjoy.  Wishing you many happy and blessed years together – keeping shining as bright as you are.

Congratulations Alexandra & Torsten. Wishing you a happy life together. Alex and Torsten came from freezing Germany to celebrate their special day here in sunny Cape Town.  All arrangements were made for them by Christiane.  We met at the Lezard Bleu Guesthouse in Oranjezicht to do all the legal bits and then headed down to Bakoven where the clear skies and sunshine made up for the wind.  Enjoy your visit here in our beautiful country and we hope to see you here again soon.

Kamini & Suren

Sunday, June 15th, 2014

Kamini & Suren have been married for 20 years and live in Johannesburg.  They wanted to renew their vows on their 20th wedding anniversary and planned a special intimate ceremony in Cape Town.  They stayed at Whale View Manor Guest House in Simonstown and Dominique organised all the details of the day to usual perfection.   The morning of their ceremony it poured with rain and by the afternoon we were lucky enough to have a gap in the weather so we could go down to the beach which was great.  All the best and enjoy your photos.

February 2014 – Say I Love You

Saturday, February 1st, 2014

We are almost through half of February and at the beginning of the year, I committed to sharing something every month that inspired me.     This month is all about love and gratitude for me.       Love it not just a feeling, love is an action……love is a choice.    There are so many cheesy sounding quotes and poems about love but when I put my mind aside for a moment and read them with my heart,  they  resonate and for that I am grateful.      To love and be loved is life’s greatest gift.   There is so much grace and connection when we allow love.  So I leave you with “I Love You” and I invite you to say the same each time you are tempted to say just one more thing.
