I was born and raised on a farm in Zimbabwe, the eldest of three girls. I met my Canadian husband, Dominic, in Harare. We went travelling for a couple of years and then settled down in Noordhoek, Cape Town with our two boys , Simon (6) and Dylan (3). I started my career in the corporate world as a PA and, 7 years ago, took the plunge and followed my dream to be a full-time photographer. Photographing people is my passion. I feel blessed to share and capture magical moments with people and their loved ones. I want to share this poem as I feel it embodies my intentions, aspirations and the spirit of the way in which I live my life and do my work. I will not die an unlived life, I will not live in fear of falling or of catching fire I choose to inhabit my days to allow my living to open me making me less afraid, more accessible to loosen my heart so that it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise I choose to risk my significance to live so that that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which comes to me as blossom goes on as fruit. | Poem by D Markova |
